Siesta Key, FL

siesta

Originally known as Sarasota Key, the name became Siesta Key when the island established a reputation as a place to go to rest and relax. The baby powder white sandy beaches are rated as some of the best beaches in the country and the world. Siesta Key is viewed by many as Sarasota’s most popular barrier island, connected to the mainland by two bridges. Founded in 1846, this 8 mile long Key is home to 24,000 full and part-time residents.

There is a huge variety in home choice; be it waterfront mansions or single family residential homes in a little neighborhood. Condominiums are often used seasonally as beach rentals. Siesta Key is an extremely popular vacation destination, making it very attractive for investors. Newcomers can choose to live on the Gulf of Mexico or on the Bay, near the village, or within walking distance of the beach. The north end of the island offers single-family homes with prices starting at $260,000s off the water to over $600,000 for canal-front homes and, and well into the millions for homes on the beach and bay. There are a few condominiums — some luxury, some not — that  line Crescent Beach, where the sand has the color and consistency of fine sugar. Siesta Key has more houses than any other barrier island near Sarasota. It also has a small town center –  Siesta Village that has a laid bay beach-town atmosphere. At the southern end of the island there are several waterfront estates which have a starting price in the millions of dollars.
